Since December 2009, the Minjard company has offered a new bottle made especially by VOA for two grand Châteaux located in Beaujolais: CHATEAU de PIZAY and CHATEAU de la CHAIZE.

Why did your clients want to change the design and the aesthetic of their bottle?

Our clients wanted to rejuvenate the existing bottle while preserving a strong mark of recognition: the ring around the neck. It was a prerequisite for launching the project.

Wasn’t there a risk of confusing the customers?

A prototype was tested and shown during the VINEXPO in order to gather some first impressions. They were positive and the project was able to move forward. The challenge was to preserve one part of its old design (the very characteristic ring around the neck of the bottle) while favouring a more slender bottle.

In practice, how did you conceive the bottle with the VOA?

We submitted proposals to the VOA which they presented back to us as images in 3 dimensions (3D). We could thus experiment with the forms, colours and thickness of the bottle. The 3D system is very practical because the modifications could be taken into account rapidly for an almost immediate visualization. Once the 3D was validated, we moved on to volume models and then glass tests.

How long has the bottle been on the market?

The first series was launched in December 2009.
