Mar de Frades heads to supermarkets

Interview with Jean-Pierre Castells, our distributor in Spain or how to adapt the design of a premium wine bottle for supermarkets

Climatic variations in 2010 would suggest a Galician vintage slightly higher in alcohol content...and the Mar de Frades ages very well in the bottle during the entire production cycle. Scrupulously produced – maceration of grapes without contact with oxygen, fermentation at low temperature – this white wine conserves a very rich aroma.

Its lemon tint with hints of green suggests flavors of citrus and magnolia. Add hints of chamomile and lemon verbena, pear compote, a base of salt and typical eucalyptus....

The success of the Mar de Frades heading to supermarkets

After three successful years in the away-from-home market (bar, hotels and restaurants in Spain), the development of this dry, white Galician wine had to establish a presence in supermarkets, a distribution channel now in full swing, in order to make this product available to as many consumers as possible.

Taking into account the height of supermarket shelves, we asked VOA to work on a design project more adapted to this new market; the model changed from 355 mm to 335 mm, all the while maintaining its originality, its flat ring and of course its Bleu Royal color that marks its status as a high-end wine.

Why VOA ?

The color feeder of VOA is very flexible in the sense that with three color campaigns per year, it’s possible to make adjustments according to our manufacturing needs. The VOA also succeeded in redesigning our model in record time: excellent reactivity and respect for schedules!
