An Extra Flint Magnum for the Terres d'Angles Rosé, AOC

Interview with Bernard Angles, owner of the Domaine du Mioula in the fabulous terroir of Marcillac

Bernard Angles is the owner of a vineyard in the fabulous Marcillac terroir. A self-taught iconoclast, he has applied himself for many years to producing wines both typical of the appellation and bearing the imprint of the terroir. Mindful of producing singular wines, he has dared to choose the Magnum format for his reds and rosés.

His audacity has been rewarded ; his “Terres d’Angles” Marcillac AOC were again elected “Ténor de l’année” (Best of the year) this year by the Guide Hubert.

What makes the rosé of the Domaine du Mioula so singular?

We have combined all the innovations possible with millennial traditions in order to produce a wine from the Mansois grape: more holistic farming, harvesting by hand, recently air-conditioned stainless steel and fiber chais, thermoregulation....all of it surrounded by the greatest care of our oenologist, who, with skill and passion, has solved the rusticity-refinement equation.

Made by “bleeding”, aged in air-conditioned chais, our rosés are developed with passion and rigor. From growing the grape to bottling, we always put everything into achieving excellence.

What led you to choose the new Magnum Bourgogne Authentique Extra Blanc from the VOA?

This new format from the VOA, available in an extra flint color, really highlights the quality of presentation of our products. I wanted to underline the typicality of our “Terres Roses” rosés, reputed for their roundness in the mouth, their slightly sweet flavor and their fruitiness, by offering them in the Magnum format.

What better than a larger bottle to reflect the spirit of a pleasurable summer wine as a symbol of relaxation and conviviality?

I had a desire enthrone these wines as "Masters", appreciated for their freshness, their youth and their full-bodied aspect, at the center of shady tables and see them there, proudly displaying their bright orange robes behind glass of the highest purity. I had to find a glassworks capable of emphasizing their uniqueness and producing limited series.

It’s the perfect marriage of generous packaging and the exceptionality of the content that makes “Terres Roses” rosés a very select high-end product.
