Floc de Gascogne has created a new design to mark the anniversary of receiving AOC stamp. This metamorphosis is a product of the dynamic spirit that animates the interprofessional committee of Floc de Gascogne and VOA.
The partners’ objectives? Reinforce the link with long-standing consumers of the aperitif and win over new customers. It was thus a winning bet and a good decision to update the legacy of this heritage wine!
What makes this AOC wine special?
Floc de Gascogne is a wine reputed for its smoothness and sensuality. Its flowery and slightly sweet, fruity flavor conquers the palates of gourmets, especially among women. Traditionally served as an aperitif, it is a wine served cool or with ice.
Depending upon its color, it presents a surprising range of aromas—cherry, raspberry, prune, violet, lychee or peach. It takes its name from Lo Floc: “bouquet of flowers” in Gascon language.
After consumer studies around Paris and in Toulouse, we decided to design new packaging with VOA. We wanted to refine our “Élégance” bottle and to decorate it with a more glamorous, contemporary label.
The bottle grew in height (+3 cm) and reduced its waistline, while the shield on the label gave way to a flowery arabesque crowning the name of the appellation. This new visual identity in no way obscures the product’s tradition of quality even as it highlights its modernity.
For this occasion we asked VOA to make two kinds of stoppers available, the cork and the screw cap. At once aesthetically pleasing and practical for the consumer, the latter guarantees a more hermetic closure and a better preservation of aromas.
What else is new with the Floc AOC ?
For some time now Floc has been used in cocktails. Resolutely positioned as an aperitif, it has seen itself “revisited” by mixers of such tempting cocktails as “The Red Fairy” or the “Floc me up”, a mix of kiwi and vodka. Floc will also be a partner at the big festivals of the region (Bandas, Pentecôte à Vic, Tempo Latino, Jazz in Marciac).
It’s a product that goes equally well with gastronomy. Mr. Philippe Urruca, voted best pastry chef in France, decided to honor this Gascon aperitif with his creation, Macarons au Floc de Gascogne, both red and white, entered into competition at Paris in May 2011.
