Domaine de POUDEROUX, Vieux Maury

In the wonderful terroir of Maury, Mr. and Mrs. Pouderoux, owners worthy of representing the third generation of passionate winemakers, pepetuate a tradition. Set back from the Roussillon plain, they develop wines of exceptional taste and power, marked by the terroir to which they are much attached.

What is it that makes a Vieux Maury from the Vineyard du Pouderoux distinct?

We want to produce elegant Maury wine, fine and authentic, and we want to obtain a soft natural wine with an amber robe with flashes of copper, with unobtrusive hints of candied orange peel, dry fruit, coffee, mocha and cocoa.

To host a wine of such majesty which so typifies the terroir, we had a responsibility to find a noble-looking bottle, evoking the bottles of yore and valuing a tradition rooted in the land, our heritage.

Why call on the VOA ?

Naturally, we turned to the VOA which is set apart by an undeniable know-how of the craft of quality glass and proposes a catalogue with an astounding number of models. We had a very precise idea of the type of bottle that could receive an exceptional wine and VOA is one of the rare glassworks who still prove to be flexible from the point of view of quantity.

The VOA met our criteria then, in terms of selection and knowledge ; an irreproachable quality of finish and a bottle like an old flacon with a wax-sealed cork. The BOURGOGNE ANCIENNE responded perfectly to these demands.

Who are your principal consumers ?

70% of our production is for export. The countries of Northern Europe are the biggest market, The Netherlands and Belgium among them. Restaurant owners are equally eager for these exceptional wines.

Do you think you made a good choice ?

We’ve always worked on instinct and we’ve come out pretty well. The proof is in the «Coup de coeur» award for the Maury Vendange in the Guide Hachette des vins 2012 (Hachette Wine Guide 2012)!
